treeger privacy policy

Privacy policy for the treeger Android file manager.

Effective date: July 11, 2026

treeger is an Android file manager designed for customisable, clean, and ad-free file browsing on your device. This policy explains the app’s data practices: what it accesses, what stays on your device, and what may be shared only when you choose to use Android sharing or opening actions.

Data collection

treeger does not collect, sell, or share personal information with the developer or third parties.

The app does not include analytics, advertising SDKs, crash reporting SDKs, cloud sync, account sign-in, or remote server features.

Files and storage access

treeger needs storage access to provide file management features such as browsing folders, organizing access to folders, and opening or sharing files you choose.

Depending on your Android version and the permissions you grant, the app may request:

  • Read access to external storage on older Android versions.

  • All files access on Android 11 and newer, so the app can work as a general file browser.

File names, folder paths, file sizes, modification dates, and MIME types may be shown inside the app while you browse. This information stays on your device unless you use Android sharing or another app to open a file.

Local preferences

treeger stores app preferences locally on your device, such as saved folder references, display preferences, sorting preferences, and other settings you choose in the app. These preferences are stored using Android DataStore and are not transmitted by treeger.

Sharing and opening files

When you choose to open or share a file, treeger uses Android system intents and a local FileProvider to grant temporary access to the selected file. The receiving app controls how it handles that file after you choose it.

Backups

Android backup may include app preferences depending on your device and Google account backup settings. treeger does not control Android system backup behavior.

Children

treeger is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

This policy may be updated when treeger’s data practices change. Product updates that do not change how the app accesses, stores, or shares data may not require a policy change. The updated policy will be posted at the privacy policy URL above.
