asciitor Brand Guidelines
Naming, logo, color, typography, accessibility, and asset guidance for the asciitor brand.
A plain-text file viewer and editor for Android.
Supports AsciiDoc, Markdown, CSV, and other ASCII text formats.
Concept
asciitor is a reader and editor for people who live in text files.
The name combines two ideas: ASCII (the character set that defines plain text)
and editor, with -tor as the shared suffix — compact, tool-like, memorable.
The brand identity takes its cues from the physicality of printed text — ink on paper, letterpress, the quiet confidence of a well-typeset page. It is not a developer tool that shouts. It is a reader that respects its content.

Logo
Letterform
The icon is a single lowercase a set in Fraunces, an optical serif typeface,
at weight 900 italic. The italic slant gives it motion and warmth without being decorative.
The stacked shadow effect — a second a offset slightly down and to the right —
creates depth without animation or filters. It is fully static and renders correctly
as an Android adaptive icon.

Wordmark
The app name in running text uses Space Mono Bold. The wordmark uses a single dark teal colour for a quieter, more consistent identity.

The pairing of a serif italic icon with a monospace wordmark is intentional. The icon is literary; the wordmark is technical. Together they reflect an app that bridges reading and editing.
Colour Palette
Primary Palette
| Role | Hex | Notes |
|---|---|---|
Background |
|
Blush rose — warm, parchment-like |

|
Deep teal — near-black with colour |
Shadow / Depth |
|
Warm grey — 20% opacity over background |
Accent |
|
Mid teal — supporting UI colour |
Colour Rationale
The palette is derived from the feeling of a printed page — warm cream paper, dark ink. The teal letterform is not pure black, which would be harsh, but carries just enough colour to feel considered.
The blush background is the only light-mode option in the set. It stands apart on dark home screens and reads immediately as a reading or document app.

| All SVG files load fonts via Google Fonts and require an internet connection to render correctly in a browser. For production use, open in Inkscape with Fraunces and Space Mono installed locally, convert text to paths (Object → Text → Convert to Path), and re-export as self-contained SVG or PNG. |
For the Play Store, export asciitor-icon.svg as a 512 × 512 PNG.
Use Android Studio’s Image Asset Studio to generate all adaptive icon sizes.
