In My Head Privacy Policy
Privacy policy for the In My Head Android application.
Effective date: August 1, 2026
In My Head is a local-first Android app for recording spoken thoughts and transcribing them on your device.
Privacy policy URL: https://sysout.dev/apps/inmyhead/legal/privacy-policy/
Data collection
In My Head does not collect, sell, share, or transmit your personal information, recordings, or transcripts to the developer or to third parties.
The app does not include analytics, advertising SDKs, crash-reporting SDKs, account sign-in, cloud sync, or a developer-operated backend service.
Audio and transcripts
When you choose to record, the app requests microphone access and saves the audio as WAV files in In My Head’s private app storage. Recording titles, durations, processing status, raw transcripts, and optional cleaned transcripts are stored there as well.
Speech recognition runs locally with the downloaded Whisper model. Audio and transcript text are not sent to a speech-recognition or AI service.
Model download and network access
The app requests internet access only when you explicitly choose to download
the speech model. That download is obtained from Hugging Face’s
ggerganov/whisper.cpp model repository. The request may disclose ordinary
network information, such as your IP address, to that host under its own
privacy practices. It does not include your recordings or transcripts.
After the speech model is installed, the normal record and transcribe workflow does not need network access.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, In My Head can show recording and transcription status. A completed-transcription notification can include the recording title. Android and any lock-screen settings you choose control who can see those notifications.
Local storage, backups, and removal
Recordings, transcripts, downloaded models, and app preferences are stored in Android app-private storage. They do not appear in an ordinary file manager or become available to other apps through In My Head.
Depending on your device and backup settings, Android or your selected backup provider may back up app data. In My Head does not control those services. An uninstall normally removes local app data unless Android restores it from a backup.
Children
In My Head is a general-purpose productivity app and is not directed to children. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
This policy may be updated when the app’s data practices change. The latest version will be published at the privacy policy URL above.
