Homey 1.4 Release Notes

More reliable household timing, richer meal planning, reusable starter content, and smoother everyday flows in Homey 1.4.

Homey 1.4 makes Homey more useful during the moments when household plans change: meal timing is clearer, expiry information follows the user’s local time, and the app provides more helpful starter content without taking away control from the household.

Highlights

Know which meal matters now

  • Home now presents the current meal during its configured meal window, then moves naturally to the next meal.

  • A meal can be marked prepared or skipped, so the next useful meal is always available when plans change.

  • Meal planning remains open for today but closes completed days to avoid creating plans for the past.

  • The planner’s day navigation is easier to scan and sits in a compact card alongside the planned meals.

Trust times and expiry dates

  • Notifications for expiry, shopping, and routines use the household’s local time zone, including times configured in Settings and routine schedules.

  • Expiry labels consistently use the user’s local calendar day, including details shown from an item row.

Start with useful recipes and groceries

  • Onboarding offers a selectable recipe catalogue grouped by cuisine, with all recipes selected by default.

  • Recipes include clearer cuisine, cooking-step, and catalogue information, with suggestions for common cuisine and step values while editing.

  • Starter grocery items are available from a catalogue and can be reviewed before being added.

  • New catalogue recipes and household locations or item suggestions can be reviewed and selected later, even after onboarding.

  • Recipe ingredient availability continues to feed missing ingredients into the shopping list during meal planning.

Make everyday editing clearer

  • Location emoji can be edited directly, with the pin emoji used as the safe default when no emoji is supplied.

  • Long chip groups now make their scroll or expand behavior visible and keep navigation controls aligned with the chips.

  • Section titles have clearer hierarchy while count chips retain their compact size.

  • Routine creation makes weekly and monthly schedule choices visible beside the schedule controls, focuses the newly added action, and keeps the bottom action area consistent across forms.

  • Recipe cooking-step durations are validated instead of silently becoming zero minutes.
